It first started in Ste. Genevieve High School, Ste, Genevieve, MO, USA, as audience during high school track and field meets started to include several Chinese men with mobile phone cameras. At first this was not interesting for the school staff or the parents but as the Chinese mobile cameramen became a regular and more and more dominant presence it started to be obvious something was happening.

This betting business has grown rapidly and exponentially during the last few years especially thanks to new mobile technologies that allow live video feeds over the mobile networks. It is estimated that Chinese spend over 2 billion US$ per year betting on high school track and field.

Some high school students have been allowed to wear advertising from Chinese sponsors while entire teams from US high schools have been sponsored or even flown to China for conferences and sponsor presentations.

The cult of USA high school trakc and field athlete is growing thanks to betting and fast mobile networks. Also FBI reported that there is a significant raise of illegal steroid sales while there is a drop of drug abuse.
